Who you would be working with
Smashed Avo Digital is John Dwyer and the regular contractors he builds with. Websites, online stores, AI automation and the traffic to feed them. One senior person owns your plan and your follow-up, and he is who you get on the phone.
Why the work is set up this way
John started Smashed Avo in 2018, around a gap he kept walking into. A simple online store is easy to get built. The hard version is not: a big catalogue, stock and accounting systems that have to talk to the site, wholesale pricing, and a warehouse quietly at war with the website. That is the work he went after.
He leads strategy, client relationships and technical direction, and does the harder builds himself. Behind him is a group of contractors we go back to job after job: the same developers, the same integration people, the same person on ads. You get people who have done your kind of job before.
The measure of a good project is simple. Did the business grow? Did the team stop doing by hand what a system should be handling? If yes, it worked.
Three ways in, and what each costs
The same three rungs, whatever we are doing for you. Start on any of them, and move when the work gives you a reason to. Each service page carries the detail and what is included.
- A session $240 an hour, excluding GST
-
Advice, a second opinion, or a job you already know you need doing. No retainer and nothing to sign.
Everything we charge for - A project A fixed quote from the roadmap
-
Anything larger starts with a roadmap. Half a day with the people who know the business, then a written plan and a quote. Both are agreed before anyone starts, so the number you see is for a plan you have already read. Builds have a floor: websites start at $5,000 and stores at $10,000, both excluding GST. The roadmap is a fixed price, from $1,400 with the workshop online, or from $2,400 with the workshop on site.
How the roadmap works - Something ongoing Care from $200 a month, growth from $2,500 a month
-
Care keeps the site up, patched and backed up, with a named person who answers. Growth puts someone on the site every fortnight, reading the numbers and changing something. Both are month to month.
What care and growth cover
What we will say no to
Not everything that arrives is work we should take, and finding that out halfway through suits nobody. These come up often enough to be worth naming.
If one of those is you, say so early and we will point you at someone better placed.
- Pre-revenue. Until there is a business making money, we are the wrong first spend.
- Price shopping. If the cheapest quote is going to decide it, we are the wrong fit.
- A site nobody is going to look after. We would rather not build it than watch it rot.
- A decision already made, where the job is to agree with it. You will get an opinion from us either way.
